Cats are suddenly aggressive towards each other

I have two males and one female. They typically all cuddle and get along but occasionally will wrestle with the female.

Then this morning we went to feed them which they normal all run for, and one male never came. We found him hiding and scared under the bed. We brought food to him and he ate just fine but wouldn’t come out.

Then I went into the bathroom and heard the most horrible sounds coming from the two males. The male who wasn’t initially hiding ran into the living room and was making the creepiest sounds and even hissing at me and my husband. We have them separated now, I’m keeping the scared cat in the bedroom where he’s been hiding, but the other male cat kept growling outside the door.

After a while I opened the door, the one hiding keeps howling and growling at the other male and it’s been hours of this. He won’t come out or come to me.

The female has been hiding all morning because of this. She doesn’t seem to be involved though.

I am extremely confused and have no idea what could be going on here. Do I take them to the vet for this or just hope it passes? I’ve had them together for almost two years and never had an issue like this
