I am close to closing on my first house and have always wanted a pet as I was never allowed to have any as a kid. I am looking to eventually adopt a cat from the local humane society but my parents (who are not paying for or living at the house) are determined that they are not going to "allow" me to have a cat. I realize my mom is allergic but this is my house and I've always wanted one. Any suggestions?
