I'm interested in adopting an older cat, but I'm nervous about it because I hear a lot of stories about people falling in love with the pet they apply for and then the shelter rejects them with the most frivolous of excuses.
I'm 20 years old but I planning to adopt when I turn 21 because the shelters where I live mostly require applicants to be that age. I tried a few local shelters just to make sure I absolutely wanted a cat and I really do enjoy how calming and cuddly they can be.
I feel like they might discriminate me because of my age and the fact that I still live at home with my mother.
What are your experiences with adopting, especially with cats? Can you lend some advice?
