Hi Everyone!!
I need some advice with how to handle a situation I have with our dog.
He is 15 years old and a pit bull. He has always been a very sweet boy and never bit or showed aggression to me or my hubby. He was rescued as a stray jn Detroit 14 years ago and has been with my hubby his whole life. He took a liking to me instantly when I met hubby and we have been married for 6 years and loves us both.
We recently had a baby boy who is now 2 months old. Our dog “lucky” seems to be very jealous. For instance last month my hubby was playing with the baby and lucky grabbed the baby by the leg with his mouth.. Thankfully me and him were there to intervene right away and all it did was startle our son. He wasn’t hurt or has any bite marks or anything. But now we know never to let the dog be alone with our son.
Then again yesterday hubby was holding the baby and lucky tried to jump up and grab his leg again.
How do we stop this? He has never ever did this to anybody and only displays these behaviors when hubby is with the baby. When I’m with him he just ignores the baby and sleeps.
I have been leaving him outside more often because I worry about him getting close to the baby. ( it’s nice out here jn SoCal so he’s not cold)
What should we do?
P.s... he has a lot of health problems .. just had surgery 2 months ago to remove a tumor growing.. if that helps explain his situation.
