my girlfriend and i are are very much at the point where we’re ready to live together and we’re looking for some help on how to integrate our fur babies. gf has a 2 year old 50 pound dog who is the sweetest, most wonderful girl. she had a few experiences early in life with other dogs attacking her, which has understandably led to issues when strangers/other dogs approach her. she can get nervous and barks. she’s not violent at all though. i have a 4 year old 20 pound cat who i found at a shelter when he was one. he is an indoor kitty and is pretty content with eating, pooping and sleeping. he is comfortable but can still be skittish, due to his days on the street, i assume. i brought over a cat bed of his and our dog sniffed it a bunch and has even laid next to it. we’re beginning the process of bringing the bed back and forth to familiarize their scents with one another. before we have them meet for the first time - which we’d love suggestions for that, too - any tips on the best way to integrate and make this as easy a transition as possible? thanks!
