Dog is limping vet says it’s back problems?

My dog is an 8 year old yorkie bichon mix and has been limping on and off for awhile and cannot jump up our top stairs anymore. We never took her to the vet because she wasn’t crying or seemed in pain or anything. But today she seemed uncomfortable so I took her in.

Recently when she has been walking up the stairs everything would be fine until she got to the top landing, where there would be two steps left, she would not be able to jump up them and she would cry and scratch the stairs.

So after we saw this we made a appointment with a vet we only went to once (because our usual vet was booked) and he told us that she is fine except she has allergies, and gave her a shot. He told us he doesn’t see anything but by what we are telling him it seems she has back problems? He didn’t do anything for the back issues and kind of just gave the shot and left it at that.

So I just wanted to know if what I am describing seems like back problems or if I should maybe get a second opinion. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?
