Hey guys I looked through the subs for disabled pets sections and the one I found had minimal traffic. I have a dog we “rescued” (I don’t like that term tbh) and he had to have his front arm amputated.
He has just come out of surgery and is currently struggling to walk with his three legs. He is super drugged up on painkillers from the surgery but he occasionally tries to get up, stumbles a bit before falling over.
When he falls he screams in pain, and so I was wondering if there is any way we can keep him in bed or away from trying to stand up.
Also if anyone has tips on helping him keep quality of life up please let me know. He’s just a baby and is already an integral part to the family. It really hurts too see him go with the surgery and be in this state but its for the better.
The arm he lost was his front-right arm. It was broken when he was surrendered to the vet at 7 months old. The thing is the owners didn’t do anything so the arm healed back in an L shape. He also was given up with a missing half of his ear.
I don’t really want to think about what his owners did to him, but I suspect he was in some form born into a dogfighting ring.
