The pets in our lives make every day so much better

I had a companion for many years, at least nine. She was a long-haired, furry, four-legged feline who found her way into my life and my daughter’s. It’s amazing what you can tell an animal and they know how to keep secrets. They won’t tell anyone if you don’t want them too. :) They’re with us through thick and thin. And think about all the health benefits they provide us from reducing stress, boosting our immune systems, adding years to our lives as well as great social magnets and of course make us laugh, those deep belly laughs. And who doesn’t want to laugh, it feels good and puts us in better moods.

And then there is the other side of having an amazing pet in our lives. When something happens to them, we know it’s our responsibility to provide the best care possible because we really want and need them to stick around with us for as long as possible. But sometimes things don’t turn out as we had planned or hoped. And when that beloved pet passes away, our world stops. There are millions of pet owners out there who have gone through this journey. There will be just as many who will have to make a difficult decision in the very near future if not now in putting them down. And when the life of a pet was taken by some accident or killed we felt cheated. The denial and grieving process starts.

If you had a pet die, I’m sorry for your loss. It doesn’t matter when you lost them or how you lost them that grief will be with you until you decide to let it go, no one else can do it for you. There is no time limit in the grieving process. I still feel it due to the death of my cat Delilah, the long-haired, furry, four-legged feline who found her way into my heart. I had to make a tough decision to put her to sleep October 2016. Because of her death and because I didn’t want to forget her, she inspired me to write my first book Delilah and Others Like Her. With the help of many contributors across several states who were open and willing to share their incredible stories as well as my own, my book is “in memory” of our pets and I’m proud of it. It is a beautiful book recently published and I’d like to share it with you. If you’d like to own a copy, you can go to my Facebook page (Storiestwobetold) to see how to acquire one.
