Lock cat(s) in another room at night?

Would like some reassurance. One of our cats is keeping us up at night by meowing and we've tried everything except for locking her in another room while we sleep. It feels incredibly mean though, but she/they (most likely 2 of them would be locked in at night) should be fine right?

It'd be in the living room - there's a glass door leading into it, so they can look out in the hallway. We have a big couch, lights, two cat trees, windows so they can look outside, food and we would obviously put in one of the litter boxes there. Would that be fine or no? Does anyone else do this at night?
