Reasonable to return a cat to a shelter?

Hey there, so I recently adopted a cat a month ago with the idea that she could give my other cat some companionship while I'm at work. She's used to having a buddy to play with, but I recently moved out of my mom's into a one bedroom and I noticed my poor cat was bored out of her mind when I wasn't playing with her.

So I get a new cat. My cat adapted to her within a few days and they don't really fight at all. They do play with each other, and I'm sure my cat's thankful. The issue is the new cat. I got her after being told she was the same age as my current cat (3 and a half approx) and she's a mother who already had a litter before being taken in by the shelter. Spending time with her was nice because she was sweet and wanted cuddles right away.

But when I took her home, I realized she loved biting me. It wasn't a big deal at first because I thought it came with her playing too hard and biting was a sign of "enough". But then as time passed on, her bites became more aggressive. Just two days ago I was sleeping and she suddenly bit me in the face for absolutely no reason. She also has way too much energy for my old cat to keep up with her. She will literally run around like crazy and jump all over the book cases and shelves, knocking photos over and shattering glass. I thought maybe it's because I wasn't playing with her enough, but I play with her for over an hour daily until she's out of breath, and she'll rest for a bit before going crazy again.

She doesn't let me sleep, I'm worried she'll get herself into a mess I can't get her out of, and I'm just getting a ton of scratches and bite marks left on me. I feel like she's just way too much for me to handle on my own, especially because I'm here by myself with my other cat. And I've had many cats before, since I was a kid, and I've never had to deal with a cat like this one.

Is it reasonable to return her? I'm trying my best to curb her behavior, but I feel like after a month of having her, nothing's changed, and I'm tired of getting bit in the face.
