Context: there's an abandoned house a block from where I live and it's gotten a new squatter. This one apparently fancies himself a Pit Bull breeder, but he only has a chain for one of them and the other was sitting in his yard untethered and relatively unattended while he bathed the one chained down.
I was walking my dog as normal (a 2 year old, 45 pound mutt) but I peeked out the corner and the unchained Pit broke off in a sprint and attacked my dog. He looked about 70lbs, but I was able to wrestle him off of my dog but not before her leash was severed and she ran all the way home.
The squatter apologized and gave me his leash to compensate me losing mine, but when I got home my dog ran in and left bloodprints the furniture. I examine my dog and she has a couple of scrapes on her leg and neck, but all 4 of her paws have a range of the pads torn or peeled back.
I can't afford a vet right now as I was helping my family with several other medical emergencies, and the squatter is otherwise a penniless homeless guy. I don't know what to do after treating my own dog's wounds myself, I just called 911 and they got me with Animal Control, but I still feel pretty boned here.
