My fiancee and I just bought our first home!(woo hoo!) Now that we can make our own rules and will have space for a pet, we are wanting to get our first pet together too. Here's the catch, we both work, him more so than me(stupid labor cuts) but we want to find a pet that is fairly low maintenance, and not extremely expensive. We're both allergic to cats, and a dog, from past experience, will probably be too high maintenance for how often we work. Does anybody have any suggestions for fairly inexpensive, low maintenance pets that would work well as a first pet? (personally I was thinking about a Budgie, but I know birds are very social animals, so would I need two?)
