I had a roommate who had a great cat. She was independent, sweet, spunky, and I just loved her. She was indoor/outdoor so no litter box was amazing. She didn't do much outside besides using the bathroom and laying on our porch. She never went far and all of our neighbors loved her as well.
I just discovered my former roommate is putting her up for adoption because his new apartment complex doesn't tolerate outside pets and have threatened to call animal control on her. (he won't bring her strictly inside. Lazy pet owner)
I really want her. But I feel like she wouldn't be happy if she couldn't be outside. I live in an upstairs unit and I have to go through my front door, down some stairs, through another door onto a screened porch, and then through the screened porch door to be in the yard, so three doors. It would be impossible for her to tell us when she wants in. I also moved to a busier street, as well, so I'd be worried about her safety.
Just wanting to know if there could be success in making her a strictly indoor kitty, or just letting her go would be better. I just feel like she has such a unique personality that she would not adapt well to new people, especially since she's been around her owner/us since she was a kitten.
