My mom put my cat outside in a new house/new location and he hasn’t returned in about 8 hours. How do I get him to return if he may be lost?

He normally stays inside and out but he always stayed around the house. But he doesn’t know what the house is now since we moved. It’s a small subdivision with most houses probably fenced in.

Does putting out the litter box help even if it’s about a week old and he barely used it. Put food out? Thanks.
