Against my rental agreement, I took in a foster kitten that needed a home ASAP before going to a kill shelter (we have a major cat problem here), my 1 year old cat Katie immediately became best friends with him, they didnt show many signs of being bonded but they did keep each other entertained even though they have opposite personalities.
A month later he (Mark) found his forever home.
Its two weeks after Mark left us and Katie has been non stop meowing, or rather making mmmm sounds, like she is whining.
She is stiffing the entire house like she is looking for Mark and nothing seems to keep her entertained for long. I'm home all of the time so I try to best to keep her company but she is just not satisfied with me. I have tried getting her new toys, I give her cuddles and scratches and play on the floor with her, she just gets bored after a couple minutes and continues to meow. She will initiate play by coming up to me and tapping my leg and then running away at full speed like she wants me to chase her but I cant do that because I'm in pain 90% of the time.
I'm at a loss of what to do, I really do not want to break my lease agreement and get another cat and risk eviction but I also fear that Katie is lonely and she is starting to show signs of boredom. I dont believe this is a medical problem.
Is there anything else I can try to keep her satisfied? Should I sneak another cat into the house? Are cat play dates a thing?
