I feel like I am waiting for my bird to die. Is this bad?

My parakeet Rhea we have had for four years. She was at least five when we got her. She was wild, and diffently wasn't finger trained. I have worked on fingertraing her, and she mostly is okay with us. She still won't go on my finger, but that's okay. She lets me toch her foot a little bit and it makes me so happy. She is getting older, and my dad says once she dies we can talk about another pet. I love her to death, and are thinking about adopting 2 ferrets. I feel like I've been doing more research on ferrets than I have been talking to her (she likes listenkng to my family talk) and I feel like I'm just waiting for her to die. I love her so much, but I'd ont know if what is happening is bad. I have never been bored with her, even if she isn't trained really well. Is this bad?
