I have to dog sit for a family soon. 3 nights. I have watched their dog in the past but struggled sleeping there bc it was a big empty house and the dog was difficult. Would it be weird to ask if I can have someone stay the night with me for no additional pay?

Their dog is actually a real pain and requires near constant attention and medication, and doesnt really listen to commands. He will wake me up and walk all over my belongings AND has destroyed some of my things I pack when I stay the night. He also steals my food the second I look away. Even if I place my food on the counter.

I really wasnt happy watching their pet, as the dog isnt exactly well behaved. He is okay sometimes but his behavior can be best described as a naughty little boy with attitude and teeth.

Each night I spent there in the past I had trouble sleeping and had panic attacks when the dog would just randomly freak out barking at nothing in the windows or halls at 2am.

So for my sanity I just want a friend or cousin to just be there at night for me. Their owner doesnt know I think their dog is a pain, but I have a feeling they know since they're pretty desperate to keep me. They are really nice and tell me to treat their home like their home in every sense so I dont want to be an asshole.

Would it be weird to ask if I can have someone keep me company at night for no additional pay?
