I know the subject of purebred dogs is tense, and I'm not looking to start a debate about purebred dogs. I'm wondering if (because dog breeds are made and defined by people) there is a dog breed that was breed only to be healthy/nice/a good pet? Im not asking compared to other dog breed who is the most healthy dog breed. Im asking is there anyone who is intentionally breeding the happiest healthiest dogs regardless of ascetics? I don't really care if my dog looks the way a bunch of random old people say she's supposed to look, I just want a dog that will have the best chance at a long, healthy, happy life with me.
If this isn't a thing, how would you feel if it was an option. I work at a shelter, and I see so many older dogs that were bred for looks and rules, and then surrendered later in life, and are realty unhealthy and can't be adopted because there health is too much of a commitment.
So, would you consider buying a "healthy puppy"?
