I just put a deposit towards a corgi puppy who will be 8 weeks when I pick her up around Sept. 20th. I’m super happy to have her but I’m also super worried because I’ll be going on vacation for nearly 3 weeks mid-late November.
Her breeder offers pet sitting which initially made me feel okay about leaving puppy for that long but now I’m worried that at such a young age that 1) puppy will forget what I will teach her 2) puppy may obtain unwanted habits and 3) I will miss out on 3 weeks of puppy’s life.
The reason I was a bit hasty in putting money towards my new puppy was 1) I received a letter to obtain an emotional support animal for my depression 2) a clinician I spoke to while in crisis support said not to delay what would make me feel relief from my depression referring to getting a dog and 3) upon meeting the puppy I liked her particular chillness compare to that of her siblings and didn’t want to miss out on her.
But now I’m just worried about my new puppy and leaving her for 3 weeks, even if it’s with her original family.
Am I being too worried/concerned or should I just apply my money to another puppy the breeder might have after I go on vacation?
