Need advice

Hello! I'm a 14 year-old student and I live with my mom. I have always wanted to get a cat but my mom never allowed me to, so I decided to get one when I move out at 18 probably. Recently, my mom's friend got a kitten and now my mother is up to get a cat and said it's all up to me to make the decision whether to get a cat or not and I will care for it, but I am not sure. We live in a not-so-big apartment and I am not absolutely sure that I will give the cat a good life. On most days I go to school, come home for 30min-1hour and then go to table tennis practice which lasts around 2-3 hours and then I am home most of the day. So on weekdays I will be away from home from 7:30am to around 2pm and then from 3pm-6pm. Will the kitten be able to relieve its boredom while I am not at home? Will it be able to lead a good life considering that the apartment is not big at all? Of course I will also buy toys for it to play with while I am not home, but honestly I don't think it will be enough. My mom also works from 8am-5pm so she won't be able to care for it too much so all the responsibility falls on me. Please give me your honest opinion! Thank you. :)
