What is a pet that has a definite personality, but minimal responsibility and is resilient?

I know it seems like a selfish question. I'm thinking a type of fish or something in a small fishbowl. Ideally can handle between 60F-80F (range of my apartment). Minimal cost, feed once or twice a day, doesn't need a chemistry lab to stay alive.
