(Tw: this has to do with animal abuse so read at your own discretion)
So I’ll start off with the background information. I’m currently in this roommate situation with 3 other people. One of my roommate’s boyfriends is pretty much living here. It’s been like this since last spring according to my roommate who’s been here since then.
In August, an anonymous witness reported seeing a male of the boyfriend’s description in front of our home, hitting and kicking one of the dogs in the yard. Animal cruelty services came to our home the next day, and our home became marked as a potential animal cruelty home. Nothing else was done in the matter because there was no video surveillance.
After and prior to that, my roommates and I have witnessed instances of hitting the dogs, but we didn’t formally record the information.
Tonight, my roommate’s boyfriend hit his dog again. The hit was so hard that my roommate and I heard it on the top floor. When I made a comment about it, his girlfriend yelled at me and he looked like he was about to attack me.
I have formally documented that instance and others and my roommate is documenting what she’s witnessed. We want to report him to animal cruelty services. I’ve read that photo and videos are important in the process to doing anything, but we don’t have those. Is our witness information enough, or do we need more?
Thank you.
