I have 3 dogs and 5 cats and currently foster the sweetest, hugest dog. I fell in love and want to keep her but she had a weird interaction with one of the cats. The dog is amazing with the other animals but she developed a weird fascination with one particular cat. Constantly tries to approach her and literally cries when the cat runs away. Yesterday she caught the cat sleeping in my husband's lap and started licking her. The cat looked very annoyed but didn't run away. After few licks she started nibbling the ears and then went for the head. It didn't seem aggressive, she wanted to playfully pick the cat up by the head, if that makes any sense. My husband managed to pull the cat away in time. It was extremely scary but none of them showed any signs of aggression, the cat just strutted away and the dog stayed there and started begging my husband for attention. I have 8 pets and have had countless fosters but I've never seen an interaction like that. I love her but I can't keep her if she's a danger to the other animals.
The dog is a hunting breed and we still don't leave her with the smaller animals without supervision. She was found on the street with an extremely heavy chain hanging from her neck and the vet said she most likely ran away from a puppy mill. She's around 3, adores people and usually lets other animals control their interaction, which makes this situation even weirder.
