Young cat keeps play fighting with sister and reopening a wound. What do I do?

Hello,

I adopted two high energy brother & sister kittens two years ago.

They both enjoy play fighting, but sometimes the boy takes it too far and the girl defends herself accordingly. My boy received a head wound that has since enlarged because he won’t stop fighting her ... it will scab over, start to heal and then reopen again due to their fighting. This has gone on for over two weeks now. It doesn’t look infected, I put antibiotic ointment on it every day (he hates that).

What else should I do? I can’t separate them as they would break down a door just to get to each other - nor can I cone him as I believe he would go nuts if I do. I can’t let him outdoors as it will certainly get infected. Should I place him in boarding until he heals?

Thanks a lot!
