My cat and I just moved in with a new roommate and their sweet dog. My roommate’s dog has never shown aggression towards my cat. The dog is excited when she sees the cat, but she doesn’t chase or bark, she just stands there wagging her tail. On the other hand, my cat hisses and slaps/scratches at the dog anytime she comes close. There have even been instances where he will attack unprovoked and dart from under the couch and chase the dog to my roommate’s room. At first, I thought it was because my cat was not used to being around other pets, but they have been under the same roof for about 2 months now and he just seems to be getting worse. My cat is becoming so aggressive with the poor dog that I’m scared the dog may end up getting defensive; a fight my cat would lose for sure.
P.S. I don’t know how relevant this is, but we all moved in at the same time, so both pets have been here the same amount of time.
