Suddenly moving house, how to train outdoor cat to use litter tray?

Hey all. Due to some unseen, Unfortunate circumstances I have got to move in a few days and would obviously want to take my 13 year old cat with me. It's a very good cat and spends most of its time chilling inside. The issue is i currently live right out in the country so it's always gone outside to use the toilet and has never once used a litter tray.

My new house will be in a busy town and I'm unsure about letting my cat outside at least for awhile. Now my question is how will I get this old cat used to using a litter tray? Is it something it should instinctively do or is there methods of coxing it into using it?

Cheers and thanks.
