9 year old - 11 pound Maltease has a wart that never healed.

Hello !!

My Male maltease had a wart on his cheeck a while back. Somehow though, the wart opened and never healed. He now has this sort of , crusty crumbly dust over where his wart was,although it seems easy enough to wash off with a wet cloth. He has acted totally unaffected and normally even with it. Should I just aim to slowly wash it off during a shower ?
