So recently, my boyfriend and I moved a cat his family had outside, inside because he seemed sick. Long story short, the vet says he had FIV but we're insistant only on putting him down if really necessary.
This cat is an angel, but recently he developed a problem. When he first came in, he rarely ate, but we filled his bowl with wet food 3x a day and he would just eat it periodically throughout the day. Then he ate everything when we fed him so we bumped it up to 4x a day. Then he started meowing. We took the meowing as a sign that he was trying to tell us he was hungry, so we just feed him when he meows. The problem now is he meows close to 10 times a day. He'll finish his bowl, jump on our dresser, stare at us, and meow. So one day we decided, "Hey, he knows when hes hungry more than we do so lets just feed him when he meows." Well, he threw up. If we feed more 5x a day, he throws up. So our limit is 4, but my questions are: Is there anything we can do about the meowing? Should we switch to any other food so maybe he'll feel more full? Does wet food not have all the nutrients he needs?
