So my friend’s family found a Doberman on his front porch. No chip, nothing. He asked every single person in the apartment complex if they knew who he belonged to, no one knew. Poor puppo looks a little malnourished. They’re next step was to take him to the pound where he was apparently gonna be put down. My friend said “hell no I’ll find a home for him”, so he’s been taking care of him for the last few days.
This dog looks no older than a year. He’s very playful and kind.. so I live at home and talked to my parents about keeping him. They’ve never had pets, my dad said it’s ok as long as he stays outside. Which I feel like is kind of mean but maybe eventually they’ll soften up to him and let him in the house. Anyways, I have a lanai with a pool and I need suggestions on how to keep him there safely.
I live in Florida and I heard snakes are an issue, also, if I just let him free in my lanai he might break the screens. What suggestions do y’all have? Maybe keep him chained.. which also feels mean ): I could get him a dog house? are those even sold anywhere? We don’t have a fence lol.
Finally, idk what to do about him not having papers. Obviously a check up at the vet, but can they draw blood and see if he’s had his shots or whatever? He also needs to be neutered. There’s a lot I don’t know because I’ve never owned a pet, but this doggo is so kind and loving I want to provide him a food home. Can someone please help me out with what to do?
