My friend doesn’t have reddit so I am asking the Reddit community for him. They have owned this dog (M, 3/4 German Shepard, 1/4 lab, 5 y/o) it’s whole life (5 years). There hasn’t been a single problem with his behavior, and he was neutered at around 2-3 months old. Within the last month, he has been acting increasingly dominant and aggressive forwards the family. He once placed his entire mouth on my friend’s (M, 22) face after escaping the house (which he never attempted before), and he has been living with him his entire life. The pup did the same thing to my friend’s little sister (f, 16), except he broke skin on the forehead this time. He will growl and bark out the window as usual, but when told to stop, instead of stopping as he has done his whole life, he then turns and growls/barks at the person telling him to stop. There haven’t been any major changes in the home that they can think of, and the vets can’t find anything wrong with him health-wise. They are considering putting him up for adoption because of the aggression. Does anyone have any idea of what could be going on, or have any solutions to offer? The dog went through obedience school as a puppy and had no behavioral issues until this last month.
