I think I'm projecting onto one of my cats, so I want to see what others think. I have one sweet cat and one anxious/aggressive cat. I moved recently, and since then, they have been fighting more often, with the aggressive cat starting it more. Other than that happening, they don't act weird around each other at all: never block food or litter, they sleep next to each other, walk by each other, eat together, etc. Because of other issues, I decided to start trying to clicker train the aggressive cat and do behavior modification, which I've been working on the past few days. My sweet cat used to be clicker trained so he may remember that those clicks mean treats! But, now I'm doing it for the other cat, who is getting all these treats while the sweet cat looks on forlornly. I could sometimes clicker train in a closed room, but I'm at the point where I'm carrying around the clicker and treats to give feedback wherever it happens. I give the sweet cat treats sometimes because I feel bad, but he has a weight issue, so I don't want to overdo it. He's also on a short-course of low-dose steroid for some hair loss (allergy? stress? fighting? Time will tell - vet is waiting to see what happens when we stop the steroid). Anyway, aside from the forlorn looks, it's been difficult to get him to play recently. Is he jealous? Would a low-dose steroid have this side effect? Is he being bullied more than I know? Is it seasonal affective disorder (oh wait, that's me)? I don't know! What does reddit think?
