My cats a 15 year old hyperthyroid cat, who's been on methimazole since october. Shes has episodes of intense scratching, in turn mutilating her face. The vet for some reason though it was fleas, so kept giving her a steroid shot, and some flea meds. I brought up 3 times that it could be a reaction to the meds. They finally admitted that they think it is, so they recommended that I take her off the meds for at least 2 weeks, to see if it's actually the meds or not. She also mentioned the iodine tharapy, but that's $1,500, and 5 hours away. Which I could in theory afford, but my vet said we could try hills y/d first. I was planning on going that rout, but I did some research, and discovered that it's a really crappy good, and has mo meats, which cats need. The reason I was gonna wait, and go with the hills y/d first is because the cat is legally my mothers, and I needed some time to talk about it with my mother. I know I'm not the owner, but am I doing wrong by this cat by letting it go 2 weeks without treatment, and then putting her on crappy food?
