So about 2 or 3 weeks ago, my boyfriend's mom came home late one night with her ex's dog. We have no idea what happened there but she just kept saying 'he was in horrible care and I couldn't leave him there'. Which okay, I get, saving an animal. But I wish we got a heads up. So since then my dog, who is 2, and our other dog that's also his mom's, who is 4, haven't been able to play with each other much because the new dog always growls and barks at my dog for playing. This new dog is much older than our dogs as well, by the way. Don't know how old though. And he has problems. But when we try to separate them for my dog and her other dog can play, the other dog gets sad he's in the room and doesn't play. But when we take him out, he goes after my dog. It's driving me crazy. Well I've been teaching my dog to leave him alone (him and the other dog sometimes would try to get the new dog to play with them but he wasn't having it), and just to not be around him if not necessary. There was an incident Saturday where the new dog bit me on my hand when I was trying to move him and my dog out from under a small fold up table because it was about to fall over. The new dog snapped at my hand, I stood straight up and he kept growling and barking (now at me, my boyfriend and our dog), so I did yell at him and tried to make him go in my boyfriend's mom's room. She was not home so I shut him in there. I have been noticing that he's been more angry and whatnot up to Saturday. But since then my dog has been by my side, which is very unlike him as he likes to run around and do dog stuff. Even when we took him to the dog park Saturday evening, he came to me more often than other times we've taken him. Also, right now as I type this, my dog is sleeping on my feet on our bed. Now it may seem normal but we have a twin size bed and yes I curl up to make room for him because I love him up here with us but tonight he has barely left our bed. He has also been with me more so now (well since December because I was bed ridden from September to December because of a torn meniscus and then muscle atrophy) because of quarantine, so when I do work I take him with me to where my computer is and he stays with me all day then our room, our porch or living room after me and my boyfriend get off work. Tonight is also the night I noticed a weird thing on his paw on one of his pads. Which I asked my knowledgeable friend about and she said it looked like a scab and to clean it off and disinfect it if there is broken skin. Which I did since there was a little broken skin. So he also has a sock around his paw, which he is very good about (I'm so lucky! Lol) But I don't know what to do really. My boyfriend's mom won't do anything she's supposed to do with the new dog it seems like and my dog has been changing a lot because of it. Is this normal for dogs to change suddenly? I'm not sure what to do. I'm worried for my dog since I can't play with him hardly and he can't play with our other dog because of the new one. His mom is basically acting like 'oh well he'll just have to get over it'. Am I overreacting?
