How to stop a dog from barking at people?

Hey everyone, I've had a dog for about 2 years now. She's a really small dog but she likes to bark at strangers who're just minding their own business, she even barks to my neighbors. She doesn't bark to threaten people though, if they get close she backs up as if she's scared. She only bites if she's really provoked or if I'm in danger (i.e someone punches or kicks me). This is really problematic since I have to lock her in the bedroom/bathroom for her to stop barking at people that come over to my house (the cable guy, my friends, or even my cousins that she doesn't know). She also would try to bite my friends if they accidentally bumped into me, or jokingly punched me. Does anyone know how to stop her from barking? Thanks in advance
