What are your views on my future pet situation? 🐭🐹

I have a dog, who is very loyal and mostly well behaved, but I’ve been considering expanding out to get another pet. Since I have my dog, I’m not looking for another pet that will have an extremely long lifespan. Just a pet that I can give a long and happy life for the time they spend on earth. This got me thinking about rodents. As a younger kid I had hamsters and mice who I gave the best lives possible for the money I had. I now I have a job with great pay and can spend money when needed on another pet. I’m not committed to another pet yet, but this is all just consideration for the future. Here are some things about my lifestyle that will hopefully make it easy for you to possibly help me with my decision making. I’m home every day for most of the day before going to work either an afternoon or later night shift. I have a good amount of money on me at all times and saved up when I get paid. I’m looking for a pet with lower needs but not as low as a typical goldfish. I have time to spend with pets. Everyone in my household currently knows how to handle and care for small pets. What do you think would be a good pet to be able to hold and bond with but not always need constant social interaction? If you think I don’t have the right list of needs for another pet right now, don’t be afraid to let me know 😄 I’m open to anything, even pets other than the rodents I first considered. Thank you for reading.
