I’m an exotic pet lover, is it possible to have any species of sea turtles as pets?

There seems to be no Reddit groups for exotic pet owners lovers, just pets. I’m assuming Reddit pets is for the common domesticated animals like dogs and cats, maybe birds, reptiles or others.

I always wondered if you could have a sea turtle as a pet, I firmly believe human beings shouldn’t tell others what species they can have as a companion, I’m an animal lover, there are few species I don’t love, cats are one of those no offense cat people.

I’m not a fan of hamsters, or small dogs either.

I’m the exotic pet lover, poison frogs, reptiles, monkeys, wild mammals and exotic birds are my thing.

I know there are many endangered species on this planet, it’s very sad. I care deeply for the animals of the earth, but I believe any creature has the capability to love you back and that any creature can be a companion for life.

I always wondered if sea turtles were legal as pets in certain countries obviously not the United States. And are there some sea turtles that are not endangered that are okay to have.

I love sea turtles and am currently staying in Florida where they live, I saw a dude with a pet dolphin, people with pet sharks which I also plan on having in a separate tank obviously. Maybe Reddit pets isn’t the right place to ask? Because it’s about the domestic species and not exotics, but any information or advice is appreciated!

Please do not do the “ adopt don’t shop thing” because I’m highly against adopt don’t shop. I prefer to find breeders over adoption for personal reasons. And please don’t be rude because I asked about having a rare exotic pet, many people have rare exotic species including endangered ones as pets and treat them as family and provide loving homes, I’m doing the very same, I love each and every animal that I have as a companion no matter the species, fluffy or scaly, fins or wings. Thank you for any advice.

If this isn’t the right sub for exotic rare pet questions I’ll delete it, I’m sorry if it isn’t the correct place, maybe I’ll create a Reddit group for exotic rare pets one day. So ppl who love exotics can talk about and ask questions about exotic beautiful rare creatures as companions!
