Hi All, I believe one of my birds is being bullied by my other birds. Here is some information about my aviary.
- Dimensions (mm): 2800 x 1300 x 1800 (L x W x H). So about 6.5m3
- Contains 6 budgies, 6 cockatiels, and 2 parrots
- Contains 2 sources of food, 2 sources of water, an additional birdbath, many branches, and 16 birdhouses (half large and half small)
I think that the cockatiels are bulling 1, or both, of my parrots. My parrot seems timid, shy, always flys and hides in the extreme top back corner of my aviary, never see him sitting on the branches with the other birds, always flys into that back corner as soon as I approach (none of the other birds do that). No new birds have been introduced to the aviary in many years, so these birds are all familiar with each other.
Is the explanation simply that the parrots are out-numbered? Should I place another 3 parrots in the aviary? Is there anything else I can do apart from physically separating the bids? I spend a few hours a week just watching my birds, but I have never seen them fighting first-hand, my guess that he is being bullied is just based on how his behaviour is so different to all the other birds. Thank you for any help!
