We took in a stray cat, about 6 months old. He was very chill, would sit beside us all the time, and would let you pick him up. He was like this for a couple weeks. Then we got him neutered and he’s the opposite. Full of energy and always playing, but also very bitey. You cannot pet him for long, and only if he decides to come to you. He will bite otherwise. Forget about licking him up.
Is this permanent? Will he mellow out and be a calm cat again? Some hypotheses are that he’s now more comfortable in our home so he’s being his true self. Another is that without all the hormones in his body, he’s back to being a kitten.
