Seem to sneeze a lot only when the cat seems to molt a lot?

I dont really suffer from hayfever or animal fur allergies however when my girlfriends cat sheds his fur a lot (he is an old cat so happens more an more) i tend to have a sneezing fit. 99% of the time im unaffected by it

Is this a common reaction? If so will hayfever tablets help with this?
