Tako (Taco) is my 9 year old tortie baby. We have no idea what happened but she was and indoor/outdoor cat prior to this. I'm such an asshole, I know. A week ago she had a sniffle and a runny nose. The next morning she vomited and had a fever. Today, vet said she was very dehydrated and had lost 10 oz of weight even though we have beem force feeding her, apparently not enough. She hasn't pooped in a week, but hadn't eaten for 3 days. My vet has provided good care, however they are busy and I have felt so rushed every time we bring her in. The vet also said that if she doesn't get better soon, I may have to consider a feeding tube or potentially putting her down if her liver is too far gone (her count was very high a week ago and they haven't tested again). Her temp responded to the antibiotics. She's keeping all food down but they gave me cerenia for some reason when I was concerned about her not pooping, thinking she was constipated. Also giving antibiotic 2x a day and denamarin, prednisone, and an appetite stimulant. She just got the prednisone and appetite meds in her for the first time today. She's been very lethargic but always puts up a bit of a fight when we feed her... I'm just so sad at the thought of losing her. She's the only family I brought with me when I moved across the country to be with my boyfriend 2 years ago. Any suggestions or stories you have that might help me in any way in this emotional time would be appreciated. Thank you. Hold your fur babies tight.
