Background:
The 1 y/o labmix I adopted from a rehoming group a couple weeks ago needed to be spayed. During her first appointment the vet found tumors in her mammary glands.
Her spay and tumor removal incisions are fine but she has a seroma where her nipple was amputated. So far it's opened and leaked twice and looks like she's got a whole boob going on. I told the vet both times it happened and today he said to keep and eye on it stop doing heat therapy and do cold instead to reduce it. The alternative is draining and filling the void with steriods.
She's on gabapentin 2x a day and trazadone every 8 hours plus a second round of antibiotics because of the last leaking...but she'll randomly get up and try to bolt across the house or do some deep stretches. We tried crating her but ended up with a bloody mess.(That's fine now, and cleared by her vet)
She also won't stay still for a compress anymore than a couple minutes, her vet was iffy on keeping it in place with an ace bandage ....but would it hurt anything if it's not wrapped tight for 5 mins?
Advice from people who've dealt with seromas would be super appreciated!
