My dog and cat have been introduced for a few weeks, and don’t bother each other and are pretty friendly honestly throughout the day. The cat hasn’t stayed with us because we’re doing this gradually so as not to have issues like the one we’re having right now.
Tonight the dog fr screamed humanly bloody murder at the cat, and the cat was across the room. It was a genuinely human and genuinely terrifying sound, like dog was being stabbed in the living room. We rush out there and the cat is on the other side of the room minding her own business. The dog is shaking on the couch but isn’t skittish or anything, let me pick him up, was perfectly normal, didn’t have any marks on him like the cat attacked him (and the cat never had attacked him before).
We pet him for a minute and then went to bed, and it happened again. Same thing. Like I can’t describe the sound other than it sounded like a 13 year old girl was being actively murdered in my living room. It was the worst sound I’ve ever heard in my life.
What the fuck is this shit? What do I do? I can’t keep the cat locked in the bathroom forever. It’s not fair because she’s fr not doing anything to him (also I prefer the cat). Do I have options? Do I have to like, choose one of the animals? Does it just take time? How do I prevent this deeply disturbing sound from haunting my life every night for the foreseeable future? Has this ever happened to anyone?
