I have a male neutered cat- Bailey. I’ve had him over 4 years and we live alone (usually). I rehomed him and he’s roughly 13 years old. He’s very docile and likes a game with his string and mouse and loves catnip. He’s an indoor cat also. I’m currently back home with my parents and they’ve just got 2 puppies- Bailey is showing a lot of interest in them and keeps coming to visit them, like he wants to play but doesn’t have a lot of confidence. He’s not showing any signs of aggression (he is a very very laid back boy) and has only given them a warning swipe once when they were getting too close to his tail. I’m starting to wonder if he’s been lonely- Googling it he seems to have shown signs of it with a lot of wailing during the night and day when no ones in sight and he is very clingy to me. I’m starting to think a companion isn’t the worst idea for him when we go back to our usual home. Researching it, it seems that a kitten would be better as Bailey would be more likely to accept a kitten than another adult cat into his home. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I’d love to rehome another older cat but Bailey is obviously my priority and I want to do best for him.
TL;DR should I get a kitten companion for my 13 year old cat who seems interested in puppies?
