Moving homes with my senior cat

Hoping for advice and any tips for moving with kitties!

My cat is 13 years old and has moved quite a few times in his life, but the last time was almost 4 years ago! He usually hides under some furniture for a few days after we move to a new place, but I want to make sure he’s not too stressed this time around since he’s older.

We’re only moving 2 minutes away so my plan was to bring him over to the new house on moving day before the movers start and put him in the bathroom/laundry room with his bed, food and water, toys, and litter box. We would let him out (open the bathroom door) when the move is over. Does that seem like a good plan to ease him into things?

Or should we keep him in the bathroom at our old place and bring him over when the move is done?

Would love and appreciate any advice or thoughts!
