Disciplining another person's dog?

So I have a question, are you cool with other people verablly disciplining / commanding your dog?

Personally I've always felt weird giving orders to others peoples pets... aside from tricks like sit and what not in a playful manner. I ask because I recently was hiking with friend and his puppy. His Pup kept humping my leg throughout the hike... This is clearly bad behavior but i felt like it should have been my friends responsibility to tell the dog to stop, since he IS the owner. I would tell the dog to stop when I happened but in a more reserved manner vs being super stern since again, I felt like it was the owners responsibility...

I know in similar circumstances I always make sure to stop my dog from exhibiting bad behavior like jumping and what not... just out of ediquette so my company won't have to..

Am I being silly about this lol? Or is it normal to command/ verbally disciplining other peoples dogs?
