TLDR: I want cat for mental health. head of household dislikes cats and may refuse Bc I used to be really irresponsible and messy. How can I convince him that I can handle the kitty? Or that it’s in his interest?
Long version:
I’m 22 and my Friends moving away for a new job and will give her kitten to me once she moves out on the 21st of January 2021.
The problem is, the head of the household isnt my dad and doesn’t really like cats. We share houses with another family and he pays the most rent.
We don’t really talk much. He doesn’t like me all that well because I smoke weed and stuff and crashed a few cars and used to be really messy and irresponsible.
Anyways, I only pay like $100 a month in rent cause I’m in college.
The thing is, I already paid for their shots and will for her spaying. I also really want to keep her for emotional support for stress relief and depression relief. I feel like having something to take care of would help me be productive.
Any advice?
My plan is to wait until a day before, and then ask him if the cat can be with us for the night until I can find someone to sell to. Bc adoption centers wouldn’t let me adopt another pet after this. Maybe I could tell him that I’ll pay an extra $60 in rent or something? And if I can’t do that ill immediately give the cat to a shelter or sell it? Or cover all damages and keep it in my room? Or if it’s I’m the living room I’ll always be with it?
What are you thinking if you’re in the head of household position? Would you let me keep it? What could convince you?
