So my dog (he is 5 years old and I’ve had him from a puppy) who is otherwise super laidback, has suddenly developed some new habits and I’m not sure why or how to stop it.
From about a week ago, he’s started marking on my living room coffee table, excessively sniffing the floor and furniture (like extremely excessively), and has a new thing where he immediately goes for your ears and won’t stop licking them.
The marking is obviously annoying, but the sniffing and ear thing may not sound bad on paper, but he will literally sniff the same spot for minutes on end and click his lips after, almost like teeth chattering. Google says the lip clicking is gathering or processing information but he will do it over and over and over again. The ear thing isn’t a problem necessarily but it’s so uncharacteristic and not something he’s ever done before so it’s kind of strange to me. I will literally have to tell him to stop any of these 20+ times a day, only for him to start again a few minutes later.
There’s no new animals or people, no changes in furniture or anything. Everything is exactly the ways it’s always been.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could causing him to act out or had a similar experience? Thanks!
