Adopting in lockdown

I've been really desperate to get a dog for such a long time. Recently I've been approved by and adoption service after a couple of interviews. The dog will be rehomed from Romania to the UK.
I am sure that I would be a great owner and because of lockdown I have at least 6 months and probably longer to commit to training and getting the dog used to my home and me. I am just nervous about what happens if I eventually go back to work full time (usually 8-5/6). I'm a single guy and my family live in another city although I have plenty of friends nearby.

I know it's not fair to leave a dog on it's own all day so I would be looking to get doggy day care or some local friends to help out during the day. I'm quite a social person who travels a lot and goes out at weekends and likes to go for 2 week breaks. Financially I'm ok but I have a house which is obviously a big commitment too.

I guess I'm just looking for some advice from people over whether or not this is too big a commitment to make in lockdown just in case things go back to how they were and I struggle to adjust? Advice very welcome!
