older cat pinning kitten down & biting neck?

we’ve had our older female cat for almost a year, so she’s had the whole house to herself for that long. we brought home a new a new male kitten (8 weeks) roughly a month ago. we introduced them slowly as she was not happy with him at all. we went through about a week of hissing & growling but she learned that he wasn’t leaving & now they are fine together. they sleep together, eat together, & play. she likes to groom him & he meows when he can’t find her & she comes running to find him. i’ve noticed that when they play, she sometimes gets too rough. she’ll pin him down & bite his neck & face & he cries but she doesn’t stop. i have to clap my hands for them to stop. after i separate them, he runs back at her to play again & then instantly starts crying because she pins him down. she has caused 2 ulcers in his eye from scratching him & im not sure what else to do. i don’t think she understands how big she is compared to him. any advice?
