We've had our cat 8 years and it's gotten to the point where we're now forced to get rid of it.
I live at home with my parent's and there is nothing else I can do to try to keep the cat. It has to go, very soon.
We got the cat when he was around 2 years old, and he was absolutely perfect for 5+ years.
Randomly one day he stopped using hit cat box. Peeing on the couch, our clothes, the closet, on people, on guests, on everything.
He began excessively scratching furniture and pooping in every spot in the house.
We brought him to the vet as soon as we noticed this trend begin, nothing wrong with him, we're told he's very healthy and to try other solutions.
We've tried - Changing Cat liters (Dozens of times)
Changing food (Dozens of times)
Added extra litter boxes around the house
Moved his litter boxes to new locations
Moved his food in new places
Stopping letting him go outside
Tried letting him go outside more
Re-training him to use the litter box, by giving him an entire room in our house.
We've tried different cleaning supplies
We've tried putting fabric in his litter boxes
We tried medicine a very prescribed
He doesn't have fleas and we use vet recommended flea medicine
Dozens of different recommended products among many other things
During this time, we have not been mean or harmful to him in anyway
He's had times where it seems like he might've stopped for a week or so, and we make sure to keep track of what foods/litter/etc we're using. But then he starts doing it again.
Recently he's started doing it constantly, and hasn't even used his litter box a single time in days.
My family has been cat and pet owners for 40+ years and our animals live long happy healthy lives, this has never happened before.
We're thousands and thousands of dollars into solutions and we can't afford it, we've had to throw out dozens and dozens of items that we can't get the cat pee smell out of.
We can't have guests over, our furniture is ruined and we don't know what else to do.
During this time, our cat is not one bit mean or aggressive, and still extremely friendly, he doesn't show any signs of pain, meowing, discomfort and the places he chooses to pee/poop aren't secluded to one area, he will go anything and everywhere.
